- Macular degeneration
- age-dependent macular degeneration for short AMD; eye disease that occurs predominantly after the age of 60
- A distinction is made between dry and wet macular degeneration, both of which impair the point of central vision through deposits under the retina. The cause is assumed to be a genetic predisposition in combination with personal risk factors such as smoking or high blood pressure. Both types of AMD can be therapeutically slowed down in the course of the disease, even if the disease cannot be cured.
