In-patient care
General overview
The Würzburg Department of Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy has a total of 146 in-patient and 55 day-care places, which are distributed among six main wards, a protective intensive care unit and three day-care facilities. Of the 146 in-patient places, 75 places are reserved for general psychiatric treatment and 16 places for psychotherapy. We also offer 16 in-patient treatment places each for gerontopsychiatry and addiction medicine.

Registration for in-patient admission is usually done by the attending physician in private practice after consulting with us by phone: +49 931 201-77800.
The opening hours of the administration office are
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30 to 16:00
Wednesday from 7:30 to 15:30 and
Friday from 7:30 to 1:30

Registration for addictions
The registration for an in-patient withdrawal is arranged directly with ward 4-West by the patient. After a preliminary outpatient consultation, the admission will then take place at the scheduled date.

Registration for psychotherapy
Registration for in-patient treatment of anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders or eating disorders is made directly on ward 5-East by the patients themselves. The admission date is set only after a preliminary outpatient consultation.

Care
On each ward between 16 and 23 patients are cared for by an interdisciplinary treatment team. The team in each case consists of doctors, psychologists and specially trained nursing staff, supplemented by specialists from the fields of occupational therapy, physiotherapy, art or music therapy and social work. On request, we can arrange meetings with the spiritual welfare service.
The wards
The assignment of patients to the six main wards is based on the respective medical condition. Patients are accommodated in modern and well-lighted single, double or triple rooms. Each room has its own bathroom with toilet.
On each ward there is a common room with a television. In addition, wireless Internet access is available for a small fee across the entire hospital premises.
Intensive care unit
The psychiatric intensive care unit accommodates up to 23 patients who require particularly intensive care. In the further course of the therapy, the patients are then referred to the appropriate main wards, depending on their symptoms.

Ward 3-Ost
Ward 3-Ost focuses primarily on the care of patients with depression. The individually tailored therapy concept for a maximum of 23 patients includes drug therapy, psychotherapeutic and stimulative procedures and special therapeutic offers.

Ward 3-West
Ward 3-West with 23 beds is our main ward for bipolar affective disorders. It is a ward certified by the German Society for Bipolar Disorders (DGBS), where bipolar disorders are treated according to guidelines. A comprehensive and integrated therapy concept is offered for all affected patients.

Ward 4-Ost
On ward 4-Ost with 23 beds, patients with psychosis conditions and various forms of dementia are treated. There is a close network with the outpatient clinic for dementia.

Ward 4-West
Ward 4-West focuses on the treatment of patients with addiction problems. Of the 21 therapy places, 16 are intended for qualified withdrawal treatment for people suffering from alcohol or drug addiction.

Ward 5-Ost
With 16 beds, ward 5-Ost specialises in the psychotherapeutic treatment of people with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders or eating disorders. The therapeutic focus lies on behavioural therapy. For the care of mothers with post-partum depression, we have the possibility of admitting children up to the age of seven months as part of our mother-child concept.

Ward 5-West
Ward 5-West is available primarily for patients who are entitled to elective medical services by the chief physician and a stay in a 2-bed room as part of their health insurance. The entire spectrum of psychiatric diseases is covered on 16 therapy places. On request, mothers can be admitted and treated here together with their infants.

The hospital's own patient library provides access to non-fiction and light fiction twice a week. A cafeteria with seating in the inner courtyard is open to all outpatients and inpatients and their visitors. The hospital garden and the adjacent vineyards offer the opportunity for long walks in nature.

- Power of attorney and living wills
- all previous diagnostic findings and older ones, too
Discharge
The discharge is discussed and timed in advance together with the patient. In the case of inpatient stays lasting longer than two weeks, it is possible, after consultation with the attending physician, to have a “stress test” at home over the weekend. If there is a clear improvement, the inpatient treatment can also be continued in a partial inpatient or outpatient therapy. On the day of discharge, you will receive a provisional doctor's letter and an updated medication plan.
