Lukas Treml studies Medicine at the Julius-Maximilians-University in Würzburg. Since October 2022 he has been doing his Medical Doctorate with the research group „Translational Social Neurosiences“.

In his dissertation project he researches the topic of „Social Buffering“ through virtual reality. He wants to find out how the presence of a virtual partner can influence anxiety and stress responses. To do this, data collected in the virtual environment, created in close collaboration with „Human-Computer Interaction“, are combined with validated questionnaires and physiological data generated through skin conductivity analysis. The results of this research are expected to provide a deeper understanding of the use of VR technology for the treatment of anxiety disorders.
