Third-Party Funded Projects on Anxiety Disorders
DAAD Stability Pact South Eastern Europe with project on Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (SEE-PTSD)
The aim of this Stability Pact project is to define the neurobiological, in particular genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in more detail in a research network of the six study centers in Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Mostar (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Priština (Kosovo), Tuzla (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Zagreb (Croatia) and Würzburg. Genetic and epigenetic risk variants in interaction with traumas of varying severity will be investigated in samples recruited at the study centers Zagreb, Sarajevo, Mostar, Priština and Tuzla with regard to the risk for PTSD as well as dimensional endophenotypes of PTSD. The improved understanding of the pathomechanisms of PTSD, among others in cooperation with the PGC PTSD consortium, expected from this study could lead to a more individualized and thus more effective therapy of post-traumatic stress disorder in the future.
