Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) Mainfranken
Strong regional network
The CCC MF’s care network includes numerous regional partner institutions, including hospitals, private practice specialists, rehabilitation facilities, and medical care centers. Together, they ensure comprehensive, high-quality care for cancer patients throughout the region—based on cutting-edge medicine and close coordination among all stakeholders.
Research and personalized medicine
The scientists at the CCC MF are driving medical progress nationally and internationally through the development of new treatment strategies. At the Center for Personalized Medicine, teams of experts in molecular diagnostics, bioinformatics, genetics, and clinical research work closely with treating physicians. The goal is to identify and implement therapy options tailored to each individual patient.
Since 2007, the CCC MF has also operated an interdisciplinary Early Clinical Trial Unit (ECTU), where new therapeutic approaches are tested in early-phase clinical trials specifically for cancer patients.
Recognized Center of Excellence in Oncology
Since 2011, the CCC MF has been funded by German Cancer Aid as a Center of Excellence in Oncology. Together with the Comprehensive Cancer Centers in Erlangen, Regensburg, and Augsburg, it forms the CCC Alliance WERA, which has also been funded by German Cancer Aid as a Center of Excellence in Oncology since 2023. The alliance’s goal is to strengthen cross-site research networks and further expand multidisciplinary cutting-edge medicine.
Part of National and Bavarian Research Structures
In 2023, the WERA Alliance was designated as the official NCT WERA location by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR). At the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT), cutting-edge research and innovative cancer therapy are closely integrated so that patients can gain early access to new treatment approaches through clinical trials.
In addition, the CCC MF is one of the participating centers of the Bavarian Cancer Research Center (BZKF). The goal is to translate research findings into clinical practice more quickly and to sustainably improve care for cancer patients.
