Assessing pain in patients: Clinical examination, C-fiber analysis, QST measurements

Responsible lecturer: Prof. H. Rittner, Prof. B. Namer, Ms. L. Grundei

Places available: 4

The first part involves interactive work on which neural structures and systems of nociception can be examined in patients. In the second part, common and experimental examination techniques such as clinical examination of pain patients, quantitative sensory testing, electrical stimulation for examining unmyelinated nerve fibers, and axon reflex erythema are carried out in practical exercises. A brief theoretical introduction and concluding reflection on personal experiences will be offered for each technique.
